What We Handle Under Drain Cleaning

Grease and scale build-up. Kitchen lines especially narrow over years as fat and scale coat the inside of the pipe, and jetting strips that back to bare pipe wall.

A single stuck obstruction. Where something's genuinely lodged rather than built up, an electric eel is usually the quicker, more targeted tool.

Preventative cleaning for repeat offenders. A line with a track record of blocking gets a scheduled clean before it becomes an emergency again.

Six Signs Your Drains Are Asking for Drain Cleaning

A drain that's simply due for a clean gives off warning signs before it fully blocks.

  • More than one fixture emptying sluggishly at the same time
  • A gurgling sound from drains when other taps or the toilet are used
  • An odour hanging around a sink, floor waste or somewhere in the yard
  • A blockage clears itself for a day or two, then returns
  • Visible grease or scum built up around a kitchen sink drain
  • This particular drain has needed attention before

The Pymble Angle on Drain Cleaning

Pymble's housing stock is a genuine mix: long-held Federation and mid-century houses on the older streets, sitting alongside the unit developments that have sprung up closer to the station in recent years.

The older houses tend to have mature gardens with decades of root growth working into ageing pipe joints, so cleaning here is often as much about root removal as grease.

The newer unit blocks bring a different pattern, higher fixture turnover through shared lines and more frequent grease and food waste build-up from busier kitchens, which calls for a different cleaning rhythm entirely.

What Your Drain Cleaning Quote Depends On

Most cleaning jobs are simple, and pricing reflects that.

  • Routine build-up versus a heavier root intrusion problem
  • How much of the run needs to be worked
  • Jetting versus the electric eel, or both
  • How easily we can reach a gully or opening on the property
  • A single visit versus an ongoing maintenance arrangement

Blocked drains start from $89 for a standard clean, with the full price confirmed once we've seen what's actually in the pipe.

How the Job Runs and How Long It Takes

  1. We assess the line. A quick look tells us whether this is a jetting job, an eel job, or both.
  2. We clear it. Most single blockages are gone within the hour of the gear going in.
  3. We check the flow. Water is run through afterwards, because a line that drains a bit faster isn't the same as one that's actually clear.
  4. We tidy up and go. No mess left behind, and the work's covered by our lifetime labour warranty.

Where grease sits on top of established root growth in the same run, a single-storey brick home from the earlier era sometimes needs a second, slower jetting pass to properly strip the pipe wall clean.

Jetting or the Eel: Which One Actually Applies

The two tools solve different problems, and picking the wrong one just wastes a visit.

High-pressure water jetting drives water under real force along the full length of the pipe, scouring fat, grit and root growth off the entire circumference of the pipe wall rather than boring a narrow channel through it.

That's the right call when years of build-up are the problem.

The electric eel does something different: a rotating cable that bores straight through one solid, localised snag, something lodged in place rather than layered up over time. It's fast and targeted, but it only deals with that one spot.

Quite a few jobs call for both in sequence, the eel to punch through whatever's stopping the water right now, then a jetting pass afterwards to clean the rest of the run properly.

Keeping a Line Clear Once It's Done

Staying clear afterwards isn't automatic, especially on a block with mature trees pressing on the line.

Kitchen habits make the biggest difference: keeping fat, oil and food waste out of the sink altogether does more for a drain's long-term health than anything we can do with a jetter.

On a line with a genuine pattern of blocking, a yearly or two-yearly maintenance visit is usually the cheaper option over time, though we'd never suggest that to someone whose drain has never actually given them trouble.

Licensed Work, Done to Standard

Clearing a main line, particularly with jetting equipment, sits squarely within licensed plumbing, and it's covered here by licence #465156C.

Running a jetter at the wrong pressure can damage an older or already-compromised pipe, and knowing where that line sits is exactly the judgement a licensed plumber brings to the job.

What You Get When We Do Your Drain Cleaning

You get a crew that's cleared thousands of Sydney drains, not someone working it out as they go.

Every clean is backed by our lifetime labour warranty, and if the same line acts up again from our workmanship, we come back and fix it properly.

Drain Cleaning Across Pymble and Surrounding Areas

A CCTV drain inspection is worth booking first if you're not sure whether it's build-up or something structural, and blocked drain repair picks up from there if the pipe itself needs fixing.

Our vans are regularly out across Pymble, Gordon, Killara, St Ives and Turramurra.

Common questions

Common Drain Cleaning FAQs

What tells you a place actually needs drain cleaning?

Slow-draining fixtures across the house, gurgling sounds, or a bad smell that comes and goes are the usual giveaways that a line needs clearing rather than just one fixture.

Roughly how long is a drain cleaning visit?

A standard clean is often done within the hour once we're set up. A heavily built-up or root-affected line takes more time, which we'll flag honestly before starting.

What equipment do you use for drain cleaning?

High-pressure water jetting for grease, silt and root growth, and an electric eel for a single solid obstruction. We pick whichever actually suits what's in the pipe.

Anything I need to do before you turn up?

Not much at all. If you happen to know where the access point or gully is, pointing us to it saves a few minutes, and it's worth mentioning if anything out of the ordinary has gone into that drain lately.

Does drain cleaning have to be done by a licensed plumber?

A simple surface clog is often fine to try yourself. Once jetting gear is involved on a main line, that's squarely licensed plumbing territory.

After a clean, does the same drain tend to block again?

Once it's properly cleared, most lines run freely for a long stretch. Where roots or grease build up quickly, we'll flag it honestly rather than promise it'll never happen again.
